Leadership Considerations

Academia understand that deploying mobile technology can feel like a minefield. We have many years of experience and we are able to share some of the pillars of success that allow educational establishments to progress with their technology journey.

Workshops

Planning Essentials Workshop by Academia

Planning Essentials is a half-day workshop to help support and engage leadership teams in planning and accelerating a successful deployment with Apple.

Through participating in a Planning Essentials workshop facilitated by Academia, leadership teams can understand the essential elements for creating a technology-rich learning environment, create an individual project plan for their context and discover an integrated approach for managing the deployment through each stage of implementation.

Who should attend?

Teams should include a Headteacher, Curriculum Director, and IT Director or their equivalents.

Just Enough – Education to open minds

School workshops for primary and secondary schools on modern slavery, knife crime, terrorism, county lines, online bullying, mental health and more. Their workshops use storytelling, music, acting and comedy to talk about these serious subjects. With so many children being affected by these issues they know that it is up to the next generation to make a change in society over generations to come.

Additional Tools

Reducing teacher workload

Reducing teacher workload is a leadership concern and through the use of iPad, teachers can save time marking, streamline planning and give students deeper, more meaningful feedback with digital tools on iPad.

Apple Professional Learning

We can provide the professional development support to help educators get the most from Apple technology.

Apple School Manager

With Apple School Manager, you can set up access to Apple services for everyone at your school, so your students and staff are ready to go from day one. Apple has heard from many customers that they needed to make access to these services easier for schools. Now with federated authentication, Apple enables schools to simplify the task of integrating a school’s existing systems, so they don’t have to create additional logins for their students and you can now connect to Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Identity Provider) and integrate with student information system (SIS).

Students will also get access to 200GB of iCloud storage for documents, photos, videos and other files. Teachers can use Schoolwork to hand out assignments and follow student progress, helping them tailor instruction to each student’s needs.

From a content perspective, with apps from the App Store and books from Apple Books, iPad can transform into almost any tool you can imagine—a calculator, a periodic table, a telescope, a movie studio, a musical instrument, a mobile science lab and more. Apple School Manager makes it easy to buy apps and books in bulk for all your students and teachers. And using your MDM, it’s easy to deploy your apps wirelessly to iPad.

And when it comes to privacy, these accounts have limitations on purchasing and communications, no targeted advertising, and are designed to help schools comply with their legal obligations around student privacy.

Shared iPad

Shared iPad for environments where one-to-one student-to-iPad ratio isn’t possible, Apple created Shared iPad—an elegant solution that lets students enjoy the benefits of having their own iPad. Shared iPad enables multiple students to use the same iPad in shared learning environments, while also providing a personalised learning experience. Students can quickly log in to any iPad in any classroom and have access to all their apps, books and documents.

Apple has also included features that let students find their iPad devices fast. Intelligent caching allows teachers to use the Photo ID feature to assign shared devices quickly and easily. Each student’s picture appears on the iPad they’ve been using, so they just need to spot their own photos to find their own devices.

Sustainability using modern cloud workflow through mobile technology

Cloud computing is fast becoming a serious consideration for education establishments to assist the process of becoming more sustainable and eco-friendly. Whether you are using Microsoft O35 or GSuite for Education, the integration of these eco-systems through the Files app on iPad and Schoolwork means this also compliments Apple’s Classroom app.

So, whether classrooms rely on Google or Microsoft workflow tools for their classroom, iPad and Mac support those, integrate seamlessly, and as a platform can unlock additional value of technology in the classroom

Apps

Classroom

Classroom is a powerful app for iPad and Mac, designed to be a teacher’s assistant. It has already been embraced by educators around the world. It puts teachers in charge of every device in the classroom, so they can guide students through lessons, open their apps, navigate them to a specific page in a book and keep them focused on the task at hand.

Schoolwork

Apple built Schoolwork to make it easy for teachers to share class materials, assign activities within apps and view student progress. And students have one place to see assignments, submit work and view their own progress. Schoolwork is set up in Apple School Manager and teachers can tailor instructions, to assign app activities depending on student needs, as well as supporting collaboration and helps provide instant feedback.
