Mission Beamish iPad Day

Friday 23rd June 2017 | Beamish Museum, Beamish

Friday 23rd June 2017 | Beamish Museum, Beamish

Explore the potential for the use of iPad devices to support cross-curricular English activities.

Why attend?

You will learn five-shot storytelling and how to create a film to use as a stimulus for creative writing, how to use visual storytelling to recreate a story of life in a period of history (KS1). We will also be teaching how to create collaborative non-fiction e-books and How to produce a modern re-creation of a silent movie with your class.

It will require various levels of knowledge with the iPads and you will have the opportunity to select something appropriate to the age you teach and your familiarity with the apps and devices.

Day Schedule

Agenda

9.00am to 3:30pm

→ We’ll meet at the museum entrance and, after a chance to have some refreshments, will take the bus into town.

→ After a short introduction half the group will explore the apps we are using for the day and the other half will learn how to use the Photos app to create ‘of the era’ photos. Great for if you like to bring your learners to Beamish dressed up. We will have full access to costumes and with the museum as a backdrop your pictures will look amazing.

→ The groups will swap over to the other activity

→ We’ll then head out on a series of ‘missions’ around the museum. The missions are based around creative approaches to delivering the computing curriculum.
